Project Update for July 21 - July 25, 2008:
Intake Blasting, Near Lake Nacimiento Dam - Begins June 5, 2008
The San Luis Obispo County Department of Public Works reports that the construction of the Nacimiento Water Project, Intake, by James W. Fowler Co., calls for the construction of a 180-foot shaft near Lake Nacimiento Dam. Excavation of this shaft began in January 2008, and now requires the use of blasting to facilitate rock removal from the shaft bottom excavation. Blasting will commence on Thursday, June 5, 2008. Motorists should expect traffic delays on this portion of Lake Nacimiento Drive of approximately 1 to 5 minutes during detonations. Blasting may occur twice per week between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm, Monday through Friday. The detonation will be clearly audible, but negligible ground vibration is anticipated outside of the construction fence perimeter. Blasting in this location may continue until mid-August 2008.
Work will continue in this area with testing and pavement restoration from Exline Rd proceeding north to Welsona Road. Shoulder work restoration is in progress from the Hwy 101 intersection to Exline Rd. Traffic delays can be expected on Monterey Road. Motorists and residents are advised to expect one lane traffic control, construction equipment movement and traffic delays between the hours of 7am - 5pm, Monday through Friday. Access to businesses on Monterey Road will be maintained. Work in this location is anticipated to be complete in early August 2008.
Construction activity at Santa Ysabel Road will require temporary road closures and traffic delays during construction hours. Residents who live on Santa Ysabel Road are advised to expect construction traffic and traffic delays. Emergency access to Santa Ysabel Ranch will be maintained; however, Santa Ysabel Ranch residents are advised to use the South River Road entrance for the duration of the work. Construction hours will be 7am - 5pm, Monday through Friday. Work in this location is anticipated to be complete in late August, 2008.
Templeton Road will be closed beginning June 2, 2008 for construction and road realignment. Work will require the closure of Templeton Road between Lupine Road and El Pomar Road (~ 2.75 miles). Traffic will be detoured from Templeton Road to Lupine Road to El Pomar Road (~6.5 mile detour). This detour will be in effect 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until the completion of the pipe installation and road realignment. Businesses within the closure area will be accessed from the south end of Templeton Road at the intersection of Lupine Road. Construction hours will be 7am - 5pm, Monday - Friday. Work in this location is anticipated to be complete in mid-July 2008.
Rocky Canyon Road is now open to traffic from HWY 41 to Halcon Rd, however testing and restoration work continues. Motorists are cautioned to expect flag zone construction areas and movement of construction equipment. Construction hours will be from 7am - 5pm, Monday through Friday. Work in this location is anticipated to be complete in late August 2008.
Work has resumed on Sandoval Rd with the installation of casing under the Union Pacific Railroad. Pipeline testing and road restoration will be ongoing over the next several weeks. Motorists are cautioned to expect flag zoned construction areas and traffic delays. Resurfacing of Sandoval Rd will require a daily closure of Sandoval Rd during construction hours, beginning on or about August 4th. Access will be maintained for local residents only, but traffic delays and heavy construction traffic can be expected. Construction hours will be from 7am - 6pm, Monday - Friday. Work in this location is anticipated to be complete in Mid-August 2008.
Restoration work continues on El Camino Real from Asuncion Road to Santa Margarita. Motorists are cautioned to expect one lane traffic control and constrction equipment in this area. Construction hours will be 7am - 5pm, Monday through Friday. Work in this location is anticipated to be complete in mid August 2008.
Motorists are cautioned to expect flag zone delays between Highway 101 and Santa Margarita this week. Work zone hours are between 7:00 - 5:30 Monday - Friday.
