Project Update for June 29 - July 3, 2009:

INTAKE
JW Fowler Company

Intake consists of a water intake shaft/pump wet well, micro-tunnel intake line and underwater multi-port sloping intake structure with screens, all located on the north shore of Lake Nacimiento near the spillway.

Construction of the intake shaft and tunnel are nearing completion.
There are no traffic impacts expected in association with the Intake work.


FACILITIES

Facilities includes the Lake Intake Pump Station plus two additional intermediate pump station (Santa Ysabel and Rocky Canyon Pump Stations), three water storage tanks and the project instrumentation and control (SCADA) system. The project storage tanks consists of two 850,000 gallon tanks (Camp Roberts and Rocky Canyon) and one 300,000 gallon tank (Cuesta Tunnel).

Mountain Cascade, Inc currently has construction in progress in the following areas;

Lake Intake Pump Station, Lake Nacimiento Drive, Bradley - Installation of the underground surge chamber and site piping. No delays are anticipated. Motorists on Lake Nacimiento Drive are advised to be aware construction traffic and material deliveries in the area of the Nacimiento Dam between the hours 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday thru Friday. This work is anticipated to be complete in Fall 2009.

Camp Roberts Storage Tank, Bradley - erection of the welded steel tank and installation of underground piping is complete. Electrical work and finish grading is ongoing. There are no traffic impacts expected in association with this work.

Santa Ysabel Pump Station, Paso Robles -  installation of underground surge chamber and site piping. No delays are anticipated. Motorists and residents can expect delivery of construction materials on Santa Ysabel Drive between the hours 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday thru Friday. This work is anticipated to be complete in August 2009. 

Rocky Canyon Pump Station, Atascadero - Construction of the pump station building and civil site work continues.  No delays are anticipated at this time. Motorists on Rocky Canyon Road are cautioned to expect construction traffic in the area of the Rocky Canyon Pump Station between the hours 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday thru Friday. This work is anticipated to be complete in August 2009.

Cuesta Tunnel Tank , Santa Margarita – Construction of the welded steel tank, and sitework expected to continue through August 2009. Motorists and residents are cautioned to expect delivery of construction materials and movement of construction equipment entering and exiting Hwy 101.


NORTH PIPELINE
Teichert Construction

North Pipeline consists of 22 miles of 36 and 30 inch diameter, concrete lined and coated, steel cylinder pipeline from Lake Nacimiento Intake Pump Station to the storage tank on Camp Roberts and then on to the Paso Robles turnout and the associated section of the fiber optic cable.

Teichert Construction currently has construction in progress in the following areas;

Lake Nacimiento Drive, Bradley - Installation of the 36” pipeline crossing Lake Nacimiento River has been completed. Not traffic delays anticipated.

Camp Roberts – Installation of the 36” welded steel pipe will began May 29, 2009. Construction hours will be 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. Work is expected to be completed in October 2009.

Mahoney Road, Paso Robles - Installation of the 36” pipeline will resume on June 22, 2009 west of Mahoney Road and proceed overland along San Marcos Road, to Camp Roberts. Heavy construction traffic can be expected on Mahoney Road.  Construction hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Work in this location is anticipated to be complete in late July 2009.

Wellsona Road, Paso Robles (east of Hwy 101) – The installation 48” casing and 36” welded steel pipe, underneath Hwy 101 at Wellsona Road has begun. The construction activities will require a temporary road closure of Wellsona Rd between Hwy 101 and Monterey Rd. Access will be maintained for local residents only, but traffic delays and heavy construction traffic can be expected.  Construction hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Work in this location is anticipated to be complete in mid June 2009.

Wellsona Road, Paso Robles– (west of Hwy 101) - Potholing for the installation 48” casing and 36” welded steel pipe, along Wellsona Road will resume in July 2009. Pipe deliveries have been completed. No traffic delays are anticipated.

Monterey Road, Paso Robles. - Appurtenance installation and clean up along Monterey Road has been completed. Motorists and residents in the vicinity of Monterey Road are cautioned to expect construction personnel working intermittently along roadway shoulders between the hours of 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. No traffic delays are anticipated. This work is expected to be complete in late June 2009.

North River Road, Paso Robles – North River Road has been closed for the installation of 30” welded steel pipe. The installation of pipe from the Hwy. 46 overpass, north to the Paso Robles city limits has been completed.  Pipeline installation and testing on North River Rd south of the Hwy 46 overpass to 13th Street has been completed. Minor appurtenance work and cleanup activities still need to be performed. Motorists and residents should follow the posted detour route to access North River Road. This is a full time closure and is in effect 24 hours a day, seven days a week, until completion of this part of the North Pipeline. Construction hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 a.m., Monday through Friday.  The pipeline work on North River Road is anticipated to be complete July 2, 2009.

South River Road, Paso Robles- Pipeline work on South River Road has been completed. No traffic delays are anticipated.

CENTRAL PIPELINE

Central Pipeline consists of 11 miles of 24 and 18 inch diameter, ductile iron pipeline from the Paso Robles turnout to the Rocky Canyon Tank inlet, with intermediate turnouts for the City of Paso Robles, Templeton Community Services District, and Atascadero Mutual Water Company and the associated secion of fiber optic system.

Whitaker Contractors currently has construction in progress in the following areas;

The installation of the 24” and 18” DIP and associated fiber optic system from Santa Ysabel Road to the Rocky Canyon Tank site is complete. Crews continue to work at intermediate turn outs for the City of Paso Robles, Templeton Community Services District and the Atascadero Mutual Water Company. Fiber optic cable testing work along Templeton Road resumed this week and is anticipted to be compeleted by April 24, 2009. No traffic impacts are expected, however, motorists may encounter work crews on the road shoulder through out the Central pipeline area.

SOUTH PIPELINE
Southern California Pipeline

South Pipeline consists of 14 miles of 18 and 12 inch diameter, ductile iron pipeline from the Rocky Canyon Tank discharge to and including the San Luis Obispo turnout and the associated section of the fiber optic system.

Southern California Pipeline currently has construction in progress in the following areas;

Rocky Canyon Road, Atascadero  - Appurtenance work associated with the installation of the 18” DIP will resume on May 11, 2009.   The construction activities will require temporary lane closures.  Access will be maintained for local residents and traffic delays and heavy construction traffic can be expected. Construction hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Work in this location is anticipated to be complete in early July 2009.

El Camino Real, Santa Margarita – Work associated with the installation of the pipe bridge adjacent to the Santa Margarita Creek Bridge is expected to commence June 8, 2009.   Residents and motorists are cautioned to expect temporary lane closures, traffic delays and heavy construction traffic. Construction hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Work in this location is anticipated to be complete in early July 2009.

Hwy 101, Santa Margarita - Installation of the 36” steel casing and 18” DIP, underneath Hwy 101 south of Santa Margarita is complete. No traffic impacts are anticipated for this portion of the work. 

Tassjara Creek Road, Santa Margarita - Work at the Tassajara Creek Road bore and jack has been completed. Restoration work at Tassajara Creek Rd has been completed. Pipeline testing operations will be performed overland between the Hwy 101 bore pit and Tassajara Creek Road. Motorists and residents are cautioned to expect delivery of construction materials and movement of construction equipment entering and exiting Hwy 101. Construction hours will be from 7:00am - 5:00pm, Monday through Thursday. This work is expected to be complete by early July, 2009.

Cuesta Tunnel (north side) – Pipeline installation of 18” DIP overland, north of Cuesta Tunnel site, has been completed. No traffic impacts are anticipated for this portion of the work.

Cuesta Tunnel (south side) – Pipeline installation of 12” DIP overland, south of Cuesta Tunnel site, will resume on May 18, 2009. Construction hours will be from 7:00am - 5:00pm, Monday through Thursday. This work is expected to be complete in early July 2009.

Stenner Creek Road, San Luis Obispo - Installation of the 12” DIP along Stenner Creek Road in San Luis Obispo has completed the initial phase of pipe installation. The second phase of pipeline installation is expected to commence in July 2009.
